Fable 5 returned to global users on the Claude Platform, Claude.ai, Claude Code and Cowork on July 1, within 50% of weekly usage limits through July 7 and then via usage credits, and Mythos 5 is restored for the 100-plus approved US organizations. Re-enablement on AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Foundry is still pending. Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.8 were never under the directive.

The court's ruling drew a clean line: training Claude on lawfully acquired text is fair use, only storing pirated copies was not, and that's the piece Anthropic paid to close. These occurred inside the evaluation environment built to stress-test models, across 141,006 evaluation runs. Anthropic suspended all cybersecurity evaluations on July 23, identified all three incidents by July 24, and notified the partner and affected organizations on July 27. OpenAI disclosed a materially similar containment breach on July 21.
